Offset Printing

Invented over a century ago, Offset Printing is also known as offset lithography or litho-offset printing. It’s a popular choice for commercial printers because it can produce a large volume of high quality vibrant prints with significant color control. This is why offset printing is often used produce books, newspapers, posters, magazines, and brochures.

It’s called offset printing because the imprint is actually transferred to an intermediary surface before being applied to the page. This process begins with the production of a metal plate that is is inked, then that inked plate is applied to a cylinder which transfers (or offsets) the image onto a rubber blanket that then transfers the image to the final substrate or print surface. This process provides a very even distribution of ink because the blanket conforms to the print surface.

At ZNB Enterprises, we utilize the state-of-the-art CTP (computer to plate) technology that enables us to produce high quality aluminum plates for excellent resolution and superior gradient print quality. Our Sheet Fed Offset presses are capable of producing 1-color, 2-color, and 4-color (4-color process, or 4 spot colors) photo quality reproductions. We also offer a wide variety of roll diameter options on our Web Offset presses (11″, 14″, 17″, and 22″), with 1-6 colors, 4-color process and UV printing available. No matter how simple or complex, our offset presses are able to serve your needs!

Sheet Fed Offset Printing

Sheet Fed Offset Printing uses a press that feeds individual sheets of paper one at a time. We use a feeder mechanism to loosen the paper, ensuring the sheets do not stick together when running through the press. This process often uses large sheets that are cut to size after printing is completed.

Web Offset Printing

Instead of individual sheets, Web Offset Printing uses paper that is fed from a large continuous roll. The paper is rapidly moved through a system of rollers that unwind it from the large roll and guide it into the press. This feeding process creates a taught “web” of paper, which gives this press its name. Because the paper is on one continuous roll, it is cut down to size after printing.

These web presses, also known as roll-fed presses, are ideal for printing large production runs on very thin paper stock. That means web offset printing is perfect for printing newspapers, catalog pages, magazines, and comic books. Plus, these presses can also accommodate paper weights up to 150# tag stock.
